First run in over a year

Oh my word I’m unfit.

I snuck out at lunchtime for my first run in over a year. I thought about firing up the “Couch to 5K” app and starting over, but then thought “nah - I’ll just set off gently, and see how it goes”.

The first kilometre was pretty plain sailing. Rather than push it (it’s hot outside), I slowed to a walk for a bit, then tried to start the Cto5K app in the background on about week 3 or 4 - just to give me something to do - only it went wrong. Then it apparently stopped Strava working too. I gave up tinkering, and just carried on in the end - running and walking as I ran out of beans while listening to Kacey Musgraves singing about coming from Golden, and not being pageant material.

Perhaps I’ll just use the Apple fitness app from now on, and ditch all the other stuff. I do like Strava though - sharing what I’m doing is kind of useful - it keeps me honest. I suppose posting it here on the blog achieves the same thing though.

It’s amusing that even after all this time, I seem to trundle along at about 6 minutes per kilometre still. Granted, I couldn’t keep it up - which is only natural after sitting on my backside for a year - but give me time.

Food. I need to go eat something.
